Karma Kids Yoga with Lori Keating ~ for Kids 4-7 & 8-12
- We use storytelling and imaginary animals for 4-7 year olds, that will engage young imaginations while tuning them into their highest and best selves.
- The 8-12 year olds will be challenged and engaged while learning breath, postures and meditations that will relax and recharge them.
Lori Keating recently completed her 200-hour YTT at Shakti Body under the tutelage of Deb Kurilla and Anna Winkler, after retiring from 20 years as an elementary school teacher. Lori is extremely excited to have been certified in July 2010 with Karma Kids to teach yoga to young people!
Kundalini Yoga for Teens with Trish O'Gorman
“When you understand who and what you are, your radiance projects into the universal radiance and everything around you becomes creative and full of opportunity.” ~ Yogi Bhajan
The benefits of yoga for teenagers are many and include:
- Improved focus and attention
- Relief from anxiety and stress
- Increased mind/body awareness, flexibility and lung capacity
- Improved co-ordination and balance
- Improved body image and self esteem
Kundalini Yoga in particular targets the nervous system and the endocrine systems, both of which are in transition and stressed during the teenage years. The nervous system of today’s teen is particularly stressed as it is constantly turned on, with all the electronic multitasking, and screen time. So paying special attention to balancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems is important for today’s teen and yoga is an effective and fun way to do just that.
Everyone can practice Kundalini yoga. No prior experience is required.
Trish O'Gorman is currently parenting two teens and loving every challenging moment. She loves working with this age group and finds teens open to the energetic yogic experience. Trish is a registered nurse, substitute school nurse, a certified teacher of Kundalini Yoga and has level 1 and 2 certification from the Radiant Child Program. She has been teaching at Shakti since 2006.
“Kundalini Yoga is uncoiling yourself to find your potential and your vitality and to reach for your virtues. There is nothing from outside. Try to understand that. All is in you. You are the storehouse of your totality.” ~ Yogi Bhajan
